Top 5 Best Baby Toothpaste | 2017 Reviews

‘Spit, baby! Spit! Spit!’

We know how familiar these words are when we’re teaching our children to brush their own teeth. It can be very unsettling when they smile at you with all those fluoride filled soap suds are already on its way through their stomachs. Teaching our children how to brush their teeth is one thing but teaching them how to spit out the toothpaste is another. Toothpaste for babies still have chemicals in them that shouldn’t be swallowed. They may not have an immediate reaction to swallowing toothpaste but in the long run, it does pose health risks. So, ‘when to start using toothpaste for baby?’, you ask? Don’t be in a rush.

Although it’s ideal for you to introduce toothpaste to toddlers three years and up, there are already brands out there which have created safe toothpaste for babies. Child toothpaste has lesser chemicals in them that will make it become safer for children to swallow. Still, it’s quite a dilemma for mothers to find the perfect and safest of all of earth’s best toothpastes for babies because there are so many brands out there to choose from.

First thing’s first though, should you use baby toothpaste with fluoride or baby toothpaste without fluoride? The best toothpaste for baby under 1 is just plain water. Just dampen your infant’s toothbrush with water and brush away! By the time they blow out their candles on their first birthday, you can start introducing baby toothpaste without fluoride. And by the time they get to figure out what’s the difference between spit and swallow, you can choose among brands of the best toothpaste for 2 year olds.

Then again, you should always consult with your child’s dentist before actually deciding when to use toothpaste for baby. When you do decide and start going off to the supermarket, better be prepared to be hit with a long queue of displayed baby toothpaste in the market. To make your trip less of a hassle, here at ParentsNeed HQ, we’ve narrowed the list down for you!

Earth’s Best Toothpaste

Earth's Best Toothpaste

There is nothing better and greater than seeing the word natural on actually any product in the market. As the name suggests, this is ParentsNeed’s best toothpaste for babies. We are very meticulous about what we’re going to use for our children, especially something that they might end up swallowing. We assure you that none of Earth’s best toothpaste contains any chemical that is dangerous to your health. It doesn’t have fluoride, that’s for sure but it also doesn’t have parabens, dyes, artificial flavoring and sweetener, and petrochemicals. They may not be as immediately damaging as fluoride; they still are chemicals that we need to be careful of especially with our children.

We know you want the best for your kid that’s why we recommend this as the best toothpaste for infants and also the best toothpaste for toddlers. This is a mommy’s favorite because of gentle strawberry & banana flavor as well as the apple & pear flavor. The flavors are unique and definitely a child favorite compared to strong mint flavored child toothpaste, which is just too darn spicy for our kids. We love the fact that it comes with an infant gum brush encouraging mothers to brush infants even before their teeth erupts.

Teaching your child a good dental habit is more than what you should put most of your attention to and Earth’s Best toothpaste can be your partner since is the best toothpaste without fluoride. So before your child learns how to start spitting out, then you better stick to what is safe toothpaste for baby. We love this toothpaste because it doesn’t pose a danger to your kids if they do happen to swallow it, but it doesn’t mean you should let them swallow the whole thing.

There is a BIG BUT with Earth’s Beast toothpaste, the size. We can’t seem to find a size bigger than the 1.6 ounce tube and with every tube they come with a rubber gum brush for infants. It kind of feels like a waste when we have to throw those gum brushes away. Other than that, there is no good enough reason to buy the best baby toothpaste without fluoride and we still think it deserves the number 1 spot.

Jack n’ Jill Natural Toothpaste

Jack n’ Jill Natural Toothpaste

From food to clothing to all-around dental care, the Jack n Jill brand is what we call the perfect brand for all baby essentials. Making its way on our list as the second best toothpaste for babies, Jack n Jill Natural Toothpaste is a real delight to have since they only chose organic natural fruits as a flavoring for the toothpaste.

They have banana, black currant, blueberry, raspberry and, the all-time favorite, strawberry. We love this product because it’s has no SLS and parabens. It is safe to swallow and mild to the taste.

This Jack n Jill toothpaste review is all positive on this one. We noticed that unlike other toothpastes, it include organic extracts like calendula, this helps soothe your baby’s gums in places where baby teeth are still about to erupt. One other reason why we think this is a safe toothpaste for babies is because it is made of natural ingredients, no add-on chemicals and preservatives that would hurt your baby’s health whatsoever. We at ParentsNeed HQ, are nuts for natural ingredients. We don’t want any of our kids nor yours to be exposed to dangerous chemicals out there.

Aside from the flavor, one ‘love-it’ factor for this product is that it’s just the right texture for your baby; it’d not too yucky and thick, and not too thin and runny either. The toothpaste is rich in Xylitol; it’s that natural sweetener that makes the toothpaste nice and delightful to the taste. Xylitol is a healthy option for sugar-free products including Jack n Jill Natural Toothpaste. This is why we think the product is a bit on the expensive side of the baby toothpaste area; Xylitol is quite pricey since you extract it from birch trees. That’s why you don’t have to worry about sugar made in the laboratory, the sugar content is safe to swallow and also good for the health.

This is a good toothpaste for baby under 1, it doesn’t pose to any of your delicate baby health. However, you need to be careful in dealing with the packaging. The cover easily breaks off, and if that happens, the toothpaste crystallizes at the top. Nonetheless, it’s a product that ParentsNeed HQ highly recommend.

Tom’s of Maine Training Toothpaste

Tom’s of Maine Training Toothpaste

Imagine squeezing your child a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on their toothbrush and smelling a sweet fruity aroma filling up your bathroom. That’s exactly the picture you get when you buy Tom’s of Main training Toothpaste. It does exactly what its name suggests it does and that’s why we put it on the third of our list of best baby toothpaste without fluoride. Before switching on to a baby toothpaste with fluoride, you need to teach your child the spitting process and that’s what’s so great about this natural baby toothpaste. It doesn’t have SLS, parabens, chemical preservatives and dangerous chemicals that come in most pharmaceutical products.

What makes this baby toothpaste really awesome for kids is the fact that all the ingredients that they used can be traced to where they were grown; even the water they used came from the Maine Aquifer. On the plus side, all of the chemicals they used are extracted from naturally grown products. They didn’t even use any laboratory made substance, they even used seaweed to make that gooey consistency.

Tom’s clear paste is FDA approved and this baby toothpaste doesn’t test its product on animals, which is great! A product that cares about nature would definitely care more about your child’s future! We’ve seen how well it works in cleaning your baby’s mouth. We can definitely tell you that your next trip to your baby’s dentist would tell you that this brand works the magic.

We love this brand because it uses xylitol, instead of the chemical sweetener. It’s safer for your child and also the environment. And with lesser compounds that make this toothpaste, you are sure that your little chomper won’t be packed with chemicals in their bodies when they happen to swallow this toothpaste. What’s disappointing though is that it doesn’t have any other size than the tiny 1.75 ounce tube, it also doesn’t come with other flavors than Mild Fruit, but it doesn’t remove the fact that it makes one of the best toothpaste for babies.

Colgate My First Toothpaste

Colgate My First Toothpaste

Known to be the world’s leading toothpaste brand, you won’t be disappointed with its baby version! Colgate has its ‘My First toothpaste’ that makes a good toothpaste for baby under 1. We love the fact that they made a baby version of Colgate! Come on, who doesn’t love Colgate? The make the best cleaning toothpaste for babies. You won’t be disappointed since they made My First toothpaste gentle and fluoride free. Considering that children would swallow practically everything that they put in their mouths, Colgate removed the fluoride content and made a baby toothpaste without fluoride.

It is also SLS free, dye free, preservative free and it comes with a sweet mild fruit. Since they aren’t packed with chemicals, they are safe to swallow in small amounts. As a training toothpaste, this is a wonderful pair to own with the best baby toothbrush out there. Colgate made sure that your little tot is safe and happy every time they brush their teeth. But when the time comes that your child is able to spit, you can shift from the Colgate fluoride free toothpaste to baby toothpaste with fluoride. You do need fluoride to help maintain whiter and cleaner teeth.

We love everything Colgate! Especially when it comes to your baby’s dental health. We know how much you want to keep your baby’s milk teeth as best you could until they shed off and change, that’s why we recommend this best baby toothpaste to remove the plaque on baby teeth. You can definitely trust Colgate to do the job better than any other toothpaste for kids out there. Colgate kept the flavor simple and sweet but not nauseatingly sweet for children. Be careful though, once they get to know how to open the twist-off cap, they might end up going to a corner and start sucking the toothpaste like jelly. It’s delightful to bring around because it only comes with the one-size 1.75 ounce tube. And for that reason, Colgate My First Toothpaste hits the fourth spot of our top 5 best toothpaste for babies.

Orajel Training Toothpaste

Orajel Training Toothpaste

There comes a time where you eventually need to introduce toothpaste into your baby’s dental hygiene but not in our babe’s diet. Unfortunately, though, everything they can put in their mouth is something that can be swallowed. That’s why we, at ParentsNeed, narrowed down the list to the top 5 best baby toothpaste in the market.

We chose Orajel Training Toothpaste in our top five best toothpastes for babies because it is made exactly for the purpose of training your child to brush their teeth with toothpaste. Especially with different fruity flavors, you are sure that no matter what flavor or color you get, you child will love it. We love the fact that the covers are filled with nickelodeon characters that kids really love like Thomas the train, PAW Patrol, Little Pony and more! One reason why our kids at ParentsNeed chose this in the first place is because it has the ‘dog’ or ‘pony’ on it. Kids love PAW Patrol characters: Chase, Marshal and Rubble; that’s one reason why kid’s top it off on their list of things to buy in the supermarket (even if they still have some at home).

Other than flavor, Orajel is one of the best toothbrush and toothpaste combo. And for good reason too, it’s cheap and affordable for great quality. Most of the starter toothpastes we have are pretty pricey but not Orajel. Although it’s good to use this as a training toothpaste, it still comes with plenty of chemicals in the ingredients list. Without fluoride, it can still be swallowed but not in excessive amounts. Compared to other more natural baby toothpaste, Orajel is more of a laboratory project. But still, it’s better than other toothpaste for babies that are 100% packed with chemicals.

Although it says that it is best for ages zero to four, we recommend you to start getting this toothpaste for kids when your child is at the age of 2 and above. Of course, we have to consider the fact that its active ingredient, Microdent, isn’t really ideal for teething babies.
